James "Jim" Henry Moneymaker

James “Jim” Moneymaker, 95, joined his Heavenly Father on August 14, 2026 at The Manor at Blue Water Bay. He was a cherished husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, and friend.  His presence will be dearly missed, but we rest easy knowing he is with his Lord. 

Jim was born in Great Falls, Virginia to Marshall and Ethel Moneymaker, one of five children. Jim is preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife, Ann Benson Moneymaker and is survived by daughter, Linda of Niceville; daughter, Stacy, her husband, Rob, of Germany and her children, Christopher and his wife Jezza, and Shealee; son Jim and his wife Andrea, of Valparaiso; great grandchildren Elijah, Isaiah, Xavier, and Josiah; sister, Shirley, of Maryland; and sisters-in law Rita, of North Carolina, and Lavonne, of Virginia. He leaves behind special friends Mary Stephenson, Frank Zaborowski, Mack Cannon, Jackie Whitman, and many other dear friends and loving neighbors who have shared his journey through life. 

After graduating from Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland, Jim enlisted in the Air Force and married the love of his life, Ann, during tech school in Biloxi, Mississippi. He served in Germany and Eglin. While in Germany, Jim borrowed money from his sister, Lucille, so that he could fly his bride over so that they could be together. They really enjoyed their time in Germany. While Jim was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, he fell in love with the warm weather of the south. Once he felt planted in Florida after getting some Florida sand in his shoes, in 1965, Jim embarked on a career with the United States Post Office, working in the Niceville office until he retired in 1990. He served in many positions, but most enjoyed serving his customers in Choctaw Beach and Bluewater Bay as a rural letter carrier. 
 
Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, watching his kids’ sporting events, volunteering at church, and helping any friend with any project. In fact, he often got into “trouble” for volunteering at church too much. Jim helped so many, and in turn, was blessed by so many. His daughter, Linda, was his angel on earth, providing care and aid for so many years. He was also deeply appreciative of neighbor Jackie for all her help through the years and for the staff at The Manor for their care and comfort in his final five weeks. 
 
Services will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Niceville, Florida to celebrate Jim’s life on Monday, August 24.  Visitation will be at 9:00 AM, funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at Heritage Gardens and reception at Holy Name of Jesus.
