Jean Marie Hughes, 74, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, in Crestview, Florida. She was born on November 22, 1949, to Helen and Raymond Shivelhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and beautiful smile.
She is survived by daughters Lori (Rod) Matlock, Kelly Concilio, son Michael Hughes, grandchildren Benjamin, Jacob, and Matthew Stoffer, Aidan Matlock, Kasey and AJ Concilio, three great-grandsons, sisters Ann (Bob) Sloan, Laura (Raphael) Espinosa, Nancy (Janie) Connell, and brother Raymond Shivelhood, who will forever cherish her precious memory. Preceded in death are her parents, Helen and Raymond Shivelhood, and her sister Barbara Shivelhood.
Jean loved baking, writing, painting, and drawing when she was younger. She was very creative. Her immense love of nature and animals was passed down to her children. Although she lived with Multiple Sclerosis for many years she never lost her positive attitude and extraordinary will to persevere. She never lost Faith and always had a deep, spiritual relationship with God.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on March 1, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Heritage Gardens in Niceville, Florida. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating her life and sharing their memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any local animal shelter or children’s charity in memory of Jean Marie Hughes.
We have great comfort knowing she is no longer in pain and was accepted into heaven with loving arms.
