Obituary

Jimmy Dotson Jeffreys, Senior Master Sargent USAF retired, was born on September 27, 1947 in Raleigh North Carolina. Jimmy went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaret Jeffreys, and brothers, Richard and Grady, all of North Carolina

Jimmy was survived by his wife of 52 years Lois, their son Eric (Erin) of Florida, son Randy of North Carolina, grandchildren Taylor Jeffreys, Justin Jeffreys, Dylan Jeffreys, and Connor Jeffreys, sister Linda Carpenter (Larry) of Tennessee, sister Jane (Sammy) Young of North Carolina.

Jimmy joined the United States Air Force in June 1967, where he served for 27 years, retiring in June 1993. During his time in the United States Air Force, Jimmy served in the Vietnam War and ended his career as the Superintendent of the 372 Field Training squadron.

Jimmy married the love of his life, Lois Jeffreys of Climax, Michigan, in 1970.  Jimmy and Lois traveled throughout the world while he was in the United States Air Force. Jimmy and Lois had their first son, Eric Jeffreys, in 1973 while stationed in Orlando, Florida. Jimmy and Lois then moved to Aviano, Italy and in 1975 had their second son, Randy Jeffreys. Jimmy and Lois then moved back to Goldsboro, North Carolina, as he was stationed at Seymor Johnson Air Force Base, which was a blessing as it was closer to all of their family in North and South Carolina. Jimmy and Lois then moved to Wichita Falls, Texas at Sheppard Air Force Base for four years. Then, finally, moving to Niceville, Florida, as they were stationed at Eglin Air Force Base until his retirement.

Jimmy, while about to retire from the United States Air Force, decided to get his degree from Troy University, where he graduated with Honors as Summa Cum Laude and as the Valedictorian with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

After retiring from the United States Air Force, Jimmy started working for the state of Florida in the Department of Corrections as the Business Manager of Okaloosa Correctional Facility. Jimmy worked for the State of Florida for 20 years, going into full retirement in 2013.

Jimmy enjoyed, more than anything, the time he and Lois could spend with their family, especially their grandchildren. Jimmy and Lois were blessed to have four grandchildren, Taylor Jeffreys, Justin Jeffreys, Dylan Jeffreys and Connor Jeffreys, and have been actively involved in everything they do. Jimmy loved nothing more than taking vacations with his family and doing what he does best: spoiling his grandchildren.

Jimmy was a member of Emerald Coast Bible Chapel of Valparaiso, Florida and is devoted Christian. Jimmy served his lord and savior throughout his entire life.
