Joanna (Jody) Lynn Wiggins (Roberts), age 67, of Niceville, FL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on 11 January 2026.
Born on 2 November 1958 in Inglewood, CA, Jody lived a life marked by faith, love, intelligence, creativity, and service to others. Striving always to be a Proverbs 31 woman. She was preceded in death by the late Mr. Robert James Roberts Sr and Mrs. Juanita Marie Roberts (Exendine); granddaughter Rebecca Joy Wiggins.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Arubey (Mel) Melvin Wiggins, Jr; her children, Mr. Arubey (Trae) M Wiggins III and Michal Danielle Serna; her grandchildren, 6 (7); siblings Janet L Hensley, Robert (Bobby) J Roberts Jr, and Richard J Roberts and many extended family members and dear friends.
She attended California Baptist College, for Voice and Music on Scholarship, then transferred to University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) to pursue a Bachelors degree in engineering. She later attained her Master’s degrees from Florida Institute of Technology in engineering. She established her professional credibility as a software engineer when she built a website for the Department of Energy—an undertaking many believed would take years—completing it in just five weeks. She later served faithfully as an engineering manager at Northrop Grumman for over 15 years until health challenges, including breast cancer, leading to her retirement due to disability in 2012.
Gifted musically and creatively, Jody played piano, sang in church for many years, and even served as a backup singer for Paul Anka on the Las Vegas Strip for two weeks. She was also known for her beautiful needlework, crochet, and handcrafted creations.
Above all, Jody was a woman of faith. Through every season of life, she never lost her joy in the Lord Jesus Christ. When her health allowed, she served faithfully in Sunday School. She loved memorizing Scripture—especially from Hebrews 11 & 12 and James 1 & 2—and helping her family commit God’s Word to heart.
She loved others deeply, treated everyone with kindness and respect, and truly “never met a stranger.” Her joy and faith were evident to all who knew her.
Her family rejoices in knowing she is now fully healed and forever in the presence of her Savior.
Funeral Services will be 23 January 2026, Friday at 11am at Faith Independent Baptist Church at 1309 Valparaiso Blvd, Niceville, FL 32578. Visitation will precede the ceremony at 10:30am
