John Allen Chaney was born January 27, 1948 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to his loving parents, Jack and Helen Chaney. He passed away peacefully in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on October 3, 2021.
The second eldest of six siblings, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, and served as a member of the honor guard. He returned to the workforce after his service and held various jobs until joining 3M company in a sales role. His personable demeanor and sense of humor helped him build relationships quickly and grow his sales career. He spent twenty-nine years successfully supporting sales in multiple divisions at 3M, while facing the challenging onset of Parkinson’s disease. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Jan, their infant son Todd, and by his beloved brothers Jack Chaney Jr., Mark Chaney, and Robert Chaney.
He is survived by his children whom he loved dearly, his eldest son, Dr. Christopher Chaney and wife, Susan Chaney and by his youngest son, Bryan Chaney and wife Emily Chaney. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Luke and Lauren Chaney, and Lincoln and Quinn Chaney. Finally, he is survived by his sister Suzanne Tower, his brother Lane Chaney, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Barrancus National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. A reception for family and friends will follow at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Chaney in Niceville.
