John Louis Recher was born in Dayton, Ohio on March 26, 1949 to Col. John Henry Recher and Pauline DeRosa Recher. He spent his formative years in Oslo, Norway where his love of skiing, sailing, and the outdoors was born.
John attended Clemson University and was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was assigned to a military police ski patrol in Germany. He finished his degree at Florida State University, then moved to Aspen, Colorado to continue skiing and spending time in the mountains. John moved to Niceville, Florida to start a family where his parents had chosen to retire. John said the best decision he ever made in life was to have children.
His kindness, his smile, his love for flying with his father, his love for the outdoors, and his love for his family and friends will never be forgotten.
John is survived by his son John, his daughters Megan and Sarah, his brother Donald, and sisters Elizabeth and Karin.
In Lieu of flowers, Dad asked that you spend a day outdoors with your loved ones and tell them how much they mean to you.
