Johnny V. "John" Boling, Sr., beloved husband, caring father, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, died peacefully on May 14, 2023.
John is survived by Joy, his wife of seventy plus years; four children, Sharon (Steve) Bortner, Jeff (Greta) Boling, Judy Boling, and Johnny V. Boling, Jr.; four grandchildren, Stephen (Kara) Bortner, Stephanie Bortner, Scott (Katherine) Bortner, and Tyler Boling (fiancee Eva Joy Vernon ); four great grandchildren, Charlotte, Emerson, Cameron, and Johnathan; one sister, Emma Jo (Dennis) Hillan; a special nephew, Larry (Mary) Boswell; and other nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by one sister (Mary S.) and two brothers (Edward and Billie).
John grew up as the son of a farmer who farmed in many locations along the Florida and Alabama borders. John was graduated from Laurel Hill High School in 1948. He was an Air Force veteran; the first letter carrier for Valparaiso post office; a postmaster at Eglin Air Force Base; a retiree from the federal government where he worked in the prison system as a business manager; a realtor who earned his GRI and CRS designation; and a Gideon. He and his wife were part of a group that founded Valparaiso Assembly of God. John and Joy served in several other churches, as well.
His integrity in his marriage, family, church, and professional matters is without question. John will be missed, but we are comforted and confident that John is at his heavenly home and in the presence of the God whom he served. We who believe shall see our husband, daddy, Pappaw, brother and uncle, again.
Pallbearers are his three grandsons, brother in law, two special friends, and a nephew. John’s granddaughter will accompany the casket and carry John’s family Bible.
