It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joshua “Josh” Zek Bexley, 42, of Montgomery, Alabama on July, 17, 2025, at Baptist South Hospital.
Josh spent most of his childhood in Somerville, Tennessee, until his teen years when his family moved to Florida, where he made his home. As a young man, he dedicated nearly 20 years to the Gulf Coast’s fine dining industry, working as a talented chef in prestigious restaurants and resorts before earning his promotion to Proprietor of Outback Steakhouse in Prattville, Alabama.
Everyone who knew Josh was drawn to his infectious smile that could brighten even the darkest room. He had a gift for bringing people together and his greatest joy came from gathering with family and friends to share laughter, jokes, and his wonderfully entertaining stories. The holidays and special moments he created with his children were treasured by all who witnessed his devotion as a father.
Josh will be lovingly remembered by his children: Aurora Bexley of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Jude Bexley of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Reagan Bexley of Destin, Florida; his grandchildren, Ember and Coda (on the way). His devoted parents, Zek and Edith Bexley of Prattville, Alabama, survive him, along with his fiancée, Charidy Ann Krouse of Montgomery, Alabama. Josh is also survived by his brother, Christopher Petty of Niceville, Florida; brother, Randy (Shanna) Martin of Covington, Tennessee; sister, Shannon Bexley of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; sister Vanessa (Carlton) Dukes of Florala, Alabama; brother, Steven (Brandi) Martin of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; and sister Jessie (Shawn) Coughenour of Florala, Alabama. He also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Josh is preceded in death by his nephew, Erick Petty, and stepfather, Robert “Shorty” Martin.
