Kay Sizemore Bonn, age 82, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, after living with ovarian cancer for 13 years. She was born in Charlotte, NC to Homer and Violet Sizemore. She married Stephen Bonn in 1968 and moved to the Bluewater Bay and Destin area in 1983 and recently to Freeport, FL.
Kay enjoyed a long career in fashion, working as a model, modeling school instructor, fashion coordinator, and sales rep. In her retirement years she enjoyed home and garden projects, volunteering at community and fundraising events, and tennis with her friends on tennis teams at Bluewater Bay and Kelly Plantation. As a cofounder of the Okaloosa/Walton Ovarian Cancer support group, Kay was dedicated to encouraging her “Sisters” in the group and spreading awareness of the symptoms of the disease. Kay was an inspiration to those who knew her with her spirit and courage as she endured numerous rounds of chemotherapy over the years. She was a long-time member of the Christ the King Episcopal Church.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Steve; her son, Robert Beam of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her daughter, Karen B. Falbaum of Shreveport, LA; her three grandchildren, Caroline and JR Rondinone and Corey Beam; and her brother, James Sizemore and wife Pat of Lakeland, FL. Also surviving are sisters and brother-in-law, Susan Bonn Quella and David and Jeanine Bonn of Minnesota.
Kay would want her community to know how much she appreciated all the love and support that was shown to her throughout her cancer journey. Her life was abundant and full of love, all because of those who shared it with her.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480 N. County Hwy 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, followed by a reception at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Children in Crisis, 1000 Luke’s Way, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547 or the Christ the King outreach fund.
