Kevin Theisen Obituary

Kevin A. Theisen was far from formal, and those of you who knew him and loved him would agree. Kevin born on December 17, 1970 in Sacramento Ca. died unexpectedly on June 26th, 2020. Kevin, son of George Theisen, then adopted along with his sister, Lisa, by grandparents Jennette and Charles Theisen upon their father’s early passing.  At the time of his passing, Kevin lived in Niceville Fl. with his significant other Joanne Devine and her son Logan Kraus, 18. Kevin is preceded in death by his Parents, George A. Theisen, Jennette Theisen, Charles Theisen, and Kevin’s sister Lisa Theisen.

Shortly after graduating from West Potomac High School in Alexandria Va.  Kevin joined the United States Marine Corps. Kevin loved being a Marine, earning ribbons in areas such as Marksmanship. Kevin’s last duty station was Parris Island. Upon his service commitment, Kevin attended Ohio State Community College, earning a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. One of his co-workers and long-time friends stated Kevin’s culinary skills were only exceeded by his “let’s have fun” perspective. Kevin’s food presentations were always beautiful which only matched his personality.  Although Kevin loved to cook, his most precious and cherished love of all was for his children Dillon and Camille. Kevin had hoped to see them again one day as they lived in different states.

Kevin’s passion for his veterans was felt by many. Prior to moving to Niceville, Kevin worked with Active Duty Service Members, Veterans, and First Responders struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Kevin served in the role of a Peer Support Specialist and House Manager, he spent quite a bit of time with his Sheepdog Brothers and Sisters.  A private service was held at the Okaloosa Fishing Pier in Destin on July 11th in remembrance of Kevin’s love for fishing and his Sheepdogs. The service was well attended by his Sheepdog Brothers and Sisters and Joanne’s family. Pastor Jonathan Sansom from Gateway City Church, Fort Walton Beach, Fl officiated the service.

Although Kevin had only come into our lives a short time ago, he made a lasting impact on our lives that will be felt forever. Kevin is survived by his son Dillion Theisen 28, daughter Camille Theisen 19, and former stepchildren Harmoni Gonzalez 16, and Lyric Rubin 4. He will be missed by his canine companions Jax, Kona, and Rocco.

A heartfelt celebration of life, “Kevin style” will be hosted by his closest friends Jason McCollum and Amir Marandi. The celebration will be held at Carnage Haunted House, Columbus Ohio on Saturday, July 25 at 7:00PM.

In honor of Kevin’s love for his father George Theisen, a Memorial Service Prayer will be held at the gravesite of his father at Mount Comfort Cemetery, Fairfax County, Virginia on August 8th at 10:00 am. Following the service, friends and family are invited to share memories of Kevin’s life at the home of Joanne’s brother and sister-in-law; Meko and Rachel Calderin in Fredericksburg, Va.

In lieu of flowers, Kevin loved his dogs and his veterans so please donate to a veteran in need of service dog’s organization, animal shelter, Hero’s on the water or the like. Carpe Diem!
