Larry Dandridge Obituary

 

Larry E Dandridge was born March 30,1947. He was born to Beverly and Jewel Dandridge in Charleston West Virginia. He was the second son of seven boys and was a product of East High School in Columbus Ohio. He was preceded in death by 3 of his brothers; Mark Rossi, Danny Carl, and James Vincent. He is survived by Bobby, Byron and Victor Dandridge. In 1963 he met and later married his wife Marry Elizabeth Hill and they had three daughters. Dawn Renae Powell, Kim Lynette Adams-Butler, and Michelle Elizabeth Dandridge. He was a loving grandfather to his grandsons, Christopher James Powell, Keven Lamont Powell and Jordan Aaron Dandridge. He was a great grandfather to Ny'zia Powell and had many nieces and nephews.

 

Larry was a lifetime member of the Valparaiso VFW and spent 20 years in the Air Force. After retiring he became a police officer for the Niceville police department for 10 years. Serving his community did not stop there, he then acquired his BA in Criminal Justice and became a Probation Officer, Substance Abuse Counselor and then a Classifications officer for Okaloosa county. Not satisfied with retirement life, He became a substitute school bus driver for Niceville Public School System and then acquired a part time job working for Walmart as a door greeter and bag inspector. He began each workday by filling his pockets with candy and peppermints for all the kids he would greet every day, He will be missed. “Remember kid, You gotta love all or not at all!”  A Memorial for his services will be at Beulah First Baptist Church 109 McGriff Street Fort Walton Beach FL at 2:30pm, on Saturday, January 4, 2020.
