On June 8, 1936, LaVerne was welcomed into this world by his parents Grace and Fredrick Young. One of 12 children with very humble beginnings. He lived a full and beautiful life with his love Linda, whom he affectionately called “Sweet Pea.” They started their family with two children, Kirk and Tammy. He started his adventure of running a business to support his family which would become known as Youngs Contracting.
His son Kirk worked by his side, from a tiny little boy until he became a Co-Owner. He loved that his son still had the love of hard work, and being by his side until the end. Dad instilled hard work in all who knew him. And he never faced a challenge he couldn’t tackle. He left a legacy in the construction industry.
His other passion was as a canoeist. He looked forward to paddling and the tough competition. But dad was the competition, everyone feared. He is on his journey paddling down the river one last time with mom cheering him on and greeting him at the finish line.
He is most proud of being a family man and taking care of all of us. We are left with love, compassion, and funniest memories that we will always cherish. He leaves behind children Kirk Young and Tamara (Dan) Winchenbach; grandchildren Amanda (Drew) Farris and Olivia (Branden) Parker and Zavion; great-grandchildren Brayden, Luke, Harper and Callahan; brothers Victor and Donald; sister Levonia; best friends Marilyn, Eric Oest, Virginia and Chris Crisafulli.
His favorite musician, Kenny Jinright, sang and played beautiful music that gave mom and dad such joy to dance through life. His beloved secretary and friend always looked out for his best interest. As dad would say, “She is tough,” Elaine Gaither.
The Family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Emerald Coast Hospice for the care given to mom and dad, and the comfort they provided. In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of our loving parents.
