With sorrow I announce the passing of my father, Lee Lipscomb Jr. My father passed away peacefully at his home in Freeport, Florida, into the arms of Jesus. He was a devoted and loving family man who gave his all to his family and friends. He was an eternal optimist and always saw the silver lining and the big picture in life. He was uniquely curious about life and the universe. He was a devoted Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ and instilled these values into his family.
An extremely intelligent man, one who lived his life his way honestly and with stubborn determination. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi and loved growing up in the South, evidenced by many stories of duck hunting and enjoying friendships that lasted a lifetime. He graduated from Ole Miss in 1961 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and then was commissioned into the Navy, part of which at the Pentagon. He spent a total of seventeen years as active and active reserve in the US Navy. He also enjoyed a career working for IBM, Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and then at Eglin Air Force Base in Niceville, Florida.
He also had several private enterprises that he enjoyed, but I believe he enjoyed retirement the most, being a devoted family man, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, the patriarch of the Lipscomb family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Margie Lipscomb and his daughters Lisa Harrison and Leigh Hill. He is survived by his wife of forty-three years Ruth Lipscomb, son Lee Lipscomb III and family, daughter Suzanne Bocchino and family, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family and friends will remember his great sense of humor, warm smile, and kind manner. We are grateful to have known him.
Donations to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation and the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday April 27th at Church on Bayshore (formerly First Baptist Church), 622 Bayshore Drive in Niceville.
