Linda Susan Underwood, 71, passed away in her sleep at the Manor at Bluewater Bay, Niceville FL, on July 2, 2024, after a six-year battle with kidney failure and dialysis. She was born in Christiansburg VA on January 17, 1953, to Tas J. Underwood Sr. and Marian Smithwick Underwood. Linda was raised in Richmond VA, graduating from Henrico High School in the Class of ’71. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at a plumbing supply business, at a FOX Network affiliate, and finally at a local McDonald’s management office. She attended Newbridge Baptist Church, Sandston while living in Mechanicsville VA with her mother. Following her mother’s death, Linda moved to Glen Allen VA, and attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church. She was active in Chamberlayne Actors Theatre as a stage manager for many years. In July 2022, Linda moved to Niceville FL to be near family; she became a resident of the Manor Bluewater Bay nursing facility in October 2022 after a serious ankle injury. Linda was preceded in death by her father (1986), her mother (2009), and her brother Tas J. (Jeff) Underwood Jr. (2013). She is survived by her brother David R. Underwood (Lt. Col. USAF, ret) and his wife Lisa of Niceville Florida, her sister-in-law Nancy Underwood of Hopewell VA, 11 nieces and nephews, and 16 great-nieces and nephews. Linda will be inurned at a later date at the Heritage Gardens Cemetery, Niceville FL, in a plot with her mother. The Underwood family offers heartfelt thanks to the Manor at Bluewater Bay, Fresenius Kidney Care Niceville, and Davita Dialysis on Three Chopt Road, Richmond VA for extending and improving the quality of Linda’s life.
