MSgt. Jack Head (Ret.) Obituary

Jack B. Head went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 4, 2024, in Niceville, Florida, at the age of 89, surrounded by family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Jack married the love of his life, Jacqueline Owens, and they shared 61 wonderful years together before her passing in 2018. Together, they raised four children: Jack (Mary, deceased) (Pat), Lisa (Steve), Donald (Debbie), and Ronald (Jacque).

In his professional life, Jack proudly served his country with 24 years in the United States Air Force. He completed two tours in Vietnam, earning the status of expert marksman. Throughout his USAF career, he received several awards and commendations, being recognized in the top 2% of all enlisted men. Jack also represented the Air Force in skeet shooting. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the Navy in Pensacola, Florida, and later for the City of Niceville for 20 years.

Jack found great joy in family activities, including woodworking, where his most cherished projects were handcrafted oak cradles for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed coaching little league teams, cheering on his grandchildren, constantly rebuilding small engines, fixing anything he could, and enjoyed taking everyone waterskiing.  He captivated all that heard his harmonica talent.

Jack’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and resilience. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

“Our greatest legacy is not what we do, but who we raise.” - Unknown Author, Psalm 78:4
