Marcy Ruiz Obituary

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of Maricella A. Ruiz, a beautiful soul and beacon of light, who departed from this world on September 8th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Marcy walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone she encountered with her radiant smile and infectious laughter.

Marcy was born on January 5th, 1959 in Tucson, Arizona.  She was the oldest of five children born to Arnulfo and Viola Ahumada and grew up in South Tucson.  As the protective big sister, she always looked out for her siblings.  Marcy graduated from Pueblo High School in 1977 where her fondest memory was being a “Warrior” cheerleader.  On Aug 3, 1979, she married Wilfredo Ruiz Jr. who was an active member of the United States Air Force at Davis-Monthan AFB.  That was the beginning of an unforgettable 45-year love filled journey.  They raised a son, Willie Ruiz III.  Marcy was a devoted military wife for 19 out of Wilfredo’s 20-year career.  During this time not only was she a wonderful loving Mom, but also dedicated herself to handling the role of Dad when Wilfredo was away at other work locations.  From Tucson the USAF moved the family to California, then to Germany, Texas and finally Florida.  Marcy loved to travel and was thrilled to visit Spain, Italy, England, Sweden, and France.  Through the years she was able to put together her own stellar 30-year banking career routinely receiving awards because of her passion for customers.

What most admired about Marcy was her unwavering faith in God even in the face of what seemed like insurmountable challenges, she remained resilient, finding light in the darkest of moments and being a pillar of strength and a source of encouragement for us all.  Marcy was simple yet elegant, authentic, caring, spiritual, and trustworthy always giving her unconditional love and support to family and friends alike.  Known as the beloved ‘GiGi’ to her grandchildren, Marcy cherished attending their activities, telling them childhood stories, reading books, doing arts and crafts or just being silly and laughing out loud.  She enjoyed romantic comedies, celebrating special occasions, the tranquility of the beach, watching sunsets, and full moons.

As we bid farewell to Marcy, let us remember the memories we shared and continue the traditions we started.  Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

Marcy was preceded in death by her father, Arnulfo, her mother, Viola and her brother, Albert.  She is survived by her best friend, husband, Wilfredo and son, Willie III (Anna), sisters, Melissa and Monica, brothers, Nufi and Adrian, Grandchildren, Gabrielle and Riley, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.’

The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at Heritage Gardens in Niceville at 2:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers please send a small donation to her favorite charity; St. Jude.org.
