Margaret Woodham McInnis passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, September 8, 2024. She was born on March 13, 1938, in Opp, Alabama to Grady A. and Anne Bradley Woodham. As a young girl, she was raised in Pensacola, Florida and graduated from Pensacola High School in the Class of 1956. She received her AA Degree from Pensacola Junior College. At PJC she was the editor of the college yearbook and enjoyed playing the piano. She met the love of her life, Carl McInnis, on a trip to Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama. They were married on September 19, 1958, at Richards Memorial Methodist Church in Pensacola and had a wonderful marriage of 39 years until his untimely death in 1997. Margaret loved being a homemaker and raising her two sons Jeff and Jay. The family moved to Niceville in 1976. Margaret and Carl enjoyed their friends at the Rocky Bayou Country Club and particularly enjoyed golfing trips with them. Annual trips with family to Callaway Gardens for Thanksgiving was a special time that Margaret enjoyed because it was an opportunity for everyone to be together at one of her favorite places. For several years, she was a regular on bus trips to Biloxi with the “girls.” In her later years she enjoyed playing Bridge weekly with a wonderful group of kind and caring friends. She was an avid Florida State football fan and never missed an opportunity to watch the Seminoles play on Saturdays. Her greatest joy was her family.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl and her brother Buddy Woodham. She is survived by her two sons Jeff McInnis (Katherine) and Jay McInnis (Christy). She is also survived by her sister Betty Bryant. She adored her grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Mimi” to Miller Ann McKenzie (Mason), Chase McInnis (Delaney), Bradley McInnis (Sydney), Morgan McInnis (Taylor), and Madison McInnis.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, in the Chapel at the Heritage Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 10:30 AM prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at the Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
In loving memory of Margaret, memorial donations can be made to the McInnis-Woodham Scholarship Fund at the Northwest Florida State College Foundation.
