Margaret Louise Powell was born on February 4, 1935 in a small farm town called Allentown, Florida to JC and Anise Phillips. She had one sibling, a younger brother, Bill.
Margaret met Thomas Powell in high school and they were married in 1953. They had two children, Tony and Janet.
Margaret worked at Ruckel Jr. High School as a bookkeeper. Later, she and Thomas started the Margaret Powell Rental business.
She and Thomas enjoyed each others company. Golfing, fishing, sewing, cooking, exercising, playing cards, and laughing at Thomas jokes were all her happy places.
She taught Sunday school at The First Baptist Church in Niceville and attended until, due to Parkinson’s, her body was no longer able.
Preceding her in death are her mother and father, JC and Anise Phillips, husband Thomas, and son Tony.
Margaret passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2023 with family and friends surrounding her.
Her survivors include: brother Bill Phillips (MaraJan), daughter Janet Hughes (Robby), daughter-in-law Anita Powell, grandchildren: Brandy Thompson, Taylor Hughes (Cris), Andy Powell (Brittany), Kristen Williams(Steve), Chase Hughes (Jen), and great-grandchildren: Amber Hart (Dylan), Noah Williams, Ava Williams, Maryn Hughes, Cricket Hughes, and Clara Hughes, and great-great-grandson Anthony Hart.
