Margery Gaynelle Newton

Margery Gaynelle Newton passed away peacefully on March 5, 2019. She was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on May 20, 1938, to parents Margery Whitwer Granberry and Rev. Seth Granberry, who served as a pastor in the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church. While attending Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, Gaynelle met the love of her life and her future husband of 61 years, the Rev. Dr. Douglas C. Newton.

For the last eleven years, Gaynelle has lived with her husband in Choctaw Beach, Florida, serving the Choctaw Beach United Methodist Church. As always, her quiet strength and great love for Jesus and others was a blessing to all who knew her.

Gaynelle is survived by her husband Doug Newton, brother and sister-in-law Seth and Sally Granberry, son and wife Allen and Stephanie Newton, daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Mark Murray. Her grandchildren are Christopher Murray, his wife Bridget Murray, Riley, Sarah Kate, and David Newton and great-grandchildren Emerson and Harper.

In Lieu of flowers the family request that any memorials be given to Choctaw Beach UMC.

A service of Remberence and Celebration will be held at Crosspoint United Methodist Church, Niceville, Florida on Friday, March 8th. Visitation will be at 10:00 and the service following at 11:00.
