Maria C. Evans

Maria Cobelo Evans passed away on June 30, 2024 at 94 years old. She was born on April 7, 1930 in the beautiful coastal city of La Coruna, Spain to Francisco and Mercedes Cobelo. In her 20’s, she traveled to Barcelona for work where she met her husband Otis N. Evans, an American Airman, who she wed after two years of writing love letters to each other from their home countries. Their marriage took them across Western Europe and the United States, where they raised their daughter before settling down on the Emerald Coast, where they welcomed their granddaughter and eventually great-grandchildren. Maria was a dedicated Catholic, who spent her time participating in several ministries, charities, and serving both her church and community. Her love for others knew now limit and she will be greatly missed.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Otis Evans, her parents, and seven siblings. She is survived by her daughter Mary Evans, her granddaughter Cathern Shirah two great-grandchildren Caleb Shirah and Dax McClintock, many nieces and nephews around the globe, and her sister Finita Cobelo Rey.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday July 18th at 10:00am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
