Marian Einstein Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Marian Jeanette Einstein announce her passing on July 24, 2021. Marian was born in Berlin, Germany on January 12, 1924, the only child of Herta and Marco Rosanis. At the age of 12, Marian and her family moved to Sofia, Bulgaria to escape the impending wrath of Hitler against the Jews and to be closer to her paternal relatives. As Hitler pressured Bulgaria to join sides with Germany, the Bulgarian government responded by initiating curfews, food rations and other measures meant to restrict movement and limit freedoms. Marian and her family endured these cruel rules and ended up moving twice while in Bulgaria before finally returning to Sofia. It was there that Marian began to study art at the Art Academy in Bulgaria. Marian was a student at the Academy for three years before her family received permission to immigrate to the United States in 1948.

Once in the United States, the family settled in New York City where Marian enrolled in more art courses. It was in New York City that Marian met her husband, Kurt. They married in 1951. After living and working in New York City, the couple eventually moved to Cleveland, Ohio where they opened Savoy Television, their own television repair business. After eight years, they decided to close the store and move to St. Louis to pursue other job opportunities. It was there that Marian worked in retail sales at Stix, Baer and Fuller department store. Later, the family moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana where they lived for 46 years. During that time, Marian worked for Fishman’s women’s clothing store for 15 years. She and Kurt were members of the Ft. Wayne Maennerchor/Damenchor for 41 years and were active members of Achduth Vesholom Temple for many years. In 2015, Marian and Kurt moved to Niceville, Florida. Marian and Kurt had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Marian was an avid listener of opera and classical music. But Marian’s talent was clearly as an artist. She created beautiful art with pen and ink, charcoal, pencil sketches, acrylic paint as well as using her humor in cartooning. Her work was featured in several area exhibits in Niceville.

Marian was predeceased by her husband, Kurt, on June 21, 2021 and is survived by her loving children, Kenneth (Precy), Laurie Koszuta (John) and four grandchildren, Kevin Einstein, Maryann Einstein, Brad Koszuta and Kyle Koszuta. Funeral services will be held graveside at Beal Memorial Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 with Rabbi M. Robert Delcau officiating.
