Marilyn Reisenwitz Obituary

Marilyn Louise Burge Reisenwitz 9/26/1935 – 9/24/2023

NICEVILLE - Our dear mother, Marilyn Louise Reisenwitz, peacefully passed away on September 24, 2023, at the age of 87. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Memaw who loved her family deeply.

She was born to the late Horace and Louise Burge on September 26, 1935, in Malden, Missouri. She graduated from Malden High School and was the school’s Homecoming Queen. Marilyn was a true beauty who grew up on a family farm with a love for cats. After she graduated from high school, she worked as a secretary at the airfield and was saving her money for nursing school. But her plans changed when she met a rascally young Air Force Lieutenant, who quickly swept her off her feet and remained by her side for the next 69 years.

Marilyn was married to Robert J. Reisenwitz in 1954 and they lived the adventurous life of an Air Force family. They travelled the world, developed life-long friends and had three kids along the way. Their last deployment brought them to Northwest Florida where they eventually opened a real estate company. After a successful second career, they retired and moved to a new home on the First Hole in Rocky Bayou Estates.

Even though she started playing golf later in life, she played many golf tournaments and even got a hole-in-one on the Rocky Bayou Country Club Golf Course.
For many years Marilyn was a well-loved member of the Rocky Bayou ladies golfing community in Niceville, Florida. In addition to being an excellent golfer, Marilyn was a talented artist, loved to play bridge with her friends and had mastered the art of making the perfect barbecue chicken for family gatherings.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert J. Reisenwitz, her brother Joseph Burge (Lois), her children Janna Ebersole (Louis), Gary Reisenwitz (Kim) and Cynthia Campfield. Marilyn is also survived by 7 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be a private ceremony for family members. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
