Mary Miller Obituary

Our beloved mother and grammy, Mary Leticia Miller, sadly passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 93, surrounded by her family. She was a true matriarch, whose love and humor touched the lives of everyone she encountered.

Mary’s life was marked by adventure and resilience. She traveled the world with her husband, David, as he served in the Air Force, living in ten different places, including Morocco, Turkey, Australia, and eventually retiring in Florida. Through every move, Mary raised seven children and worked full-time once they were all in school. She earned her MBA from Troy University and retired from financial management at Eglin.

Above all, Mary’s greatest love was her family. She was the heart and soul of her family, the matriarch who led with love, humor, and just the right amount of sarcasm. These qualities were passed down to all her children, creating a legacy of laughter and strength.

While each of her children felt equally cherished, John may have thought he was the favorite. Maureen believed she held that distinction, but in reality, she might have been somewhere in the middle—perhaps after a few nieces and nephews, some neighborhood kids, an exchange student, a child she sponsored in Africa, and after a kid she once saw in a commercial.

She certainly never let anyone forget her love for Michael, followed closely by Maureen.

Mary loved her family more than anything—except maybe poker, but that’s a close contest! Her love for the game was legendary, and we like to think she’s up there, already deep into a poker game with Dad, our brother, sisters and other loved ones, winning all the angel’s money.

Mary moved all over the world, but no matter where she was, her children always found her. She was the center of every gathering, and holidays and birthdays were always celebrated at her home. Mary was always ready for a party, and we know we will never have another one quite the same without her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Helen Garten; her husband, David; her son, David; and her daughters, Mary Pat, Patricia, and Lisa (Lundy). She was also preceded by her brothers, Hank, James, and Paul, and her sister, Marguerite (Adley).

She is survived by her sister, Connie (Delmonte); daughter-in-law, Dianne; sons, Thomas, Michael (Pam), John (Sherrie), and daughter, Maureen (Robert) Farabaugh. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren: James, Terri, Rachelle, Cayce, Cody, Daniel, Sarah, Jase, Joshua, Christopher, Hannah, Machael, Matthew, Alexa, Noah, Elijah, Micah, Hunter, Dawson, Rori-Ann, and 18 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary will be remembered on February 27, 2025, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Niceville, FL. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow. She will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.

We request that you come dressed in casual and comfortable clothing—wear any color you like. We view this as a celebration of Mary’s remarkable life rather than mourning her loss.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niceville Catholic Outreach, located at 1200 Valparaiso Blvd., Niceville, Florida.

Mary’s memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and though she has passed from this life, her love, humor, and wisdom will remain with us always.
