Melba Dukes Obituary

Melba D. Dukes, age 90 of Niceville, Florida went to Heaven on January 5, 2023. She was born in Holmes County, Florida on January 11, 1932 to the late John and Ethel Thomas.

She was married to the love of her life Eugene H. Dukes for 60+ years. She had 3 children. As a homemaker, she loved to make ceramics and sew. Her favorite book was the Bible she read it to us often and sang “When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder” to her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene H. Dukes and her son Harvey E. Dukes as well as a great-grandchild Gabi Hornsby, sister Quida Andrews and brother William Thomas.

She is survived by two daughters, Cathy J. Chapman (Darrell) of Niceville and Ramona Hornsby (Lonzo) of Ponce de Leon, Florida. Also survived by three grandchildren: Ashley Chapman Cuchens (Ashley Stephen), Christopher Chapman, and Todd Hornsby (Karen). And brother Pat Thomas (Rhonda) and nieces/nephews.

The family would like to thank Bayport Assisted Living for caring for our sweet mother/grandmother.
