Nancy Alexander Obituary

Nancy Lou Alexander of Defuniak Springs, Florida passed away peacefully on

February 23, 2024 at the age of 89. She received her angel wings while surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on November 13, 1934 to Charles and Muriel Walters in Allentown Pa.

Nancy and George J. Alexander started their wonderful life together when they were married on June 27, 1953. Nancy loved to dance and began her dancing practice and revues at age 4. She went on to become a junior Rockettes Dancer at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. One of her favorite activities was roller-skating. Her profession after marriage was a seamstress for more than 21years. Nancy, known by all as Nana, loved to laugh, dance, and as her family would often joke about, her passion for doing laundry (dirty laundry never stood a chance). Nancy always brought a smile to everyone’s face. She will be dearly missed and loved by all who knew and met her. Her family was her whole world and there will always be a piece of our hearts with her in Heaven!

Nancy is survived by son Gary Alexander (Peggy) of Dothan, Alabama, daughters Debbie Gossman (Barry) and Michele Hodges of Defuniak Springs, Florida, sister Sandra Miller of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren: Sheri Adams, Barry Lee Gossman (Jamey), Amber Hodges (Teejay), and Bobby Hodges (Tamra). She was preceded in death by her grandson Cody White. Nana was also blessed with eight great-grandbabies: Drew, Dosier, J.R., Dewley, Diesel, Ella May, Landon, and Bennett. She is also survived by niece Brenda Troxell (Bob) of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Nancy will be laid to rest at Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville, Florida, alongside her dear husband, George. She did not want a service or sadness over her passing. She requested all to smile at the memories, laugh, love, and of course dance.

The family is extremely thankful for the wonderful care and compassion always given by her physician, Dr. Indu Christopher, and associates in Crestview, Florida. The family would also like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for their care and compassion during this very difficult time.
