Patricia Sue “Patty” Scaruffi, born August 5, 1953, in New Orleans, entered eternal life on
May 1, 2026.
Patty was born to Louis A. Scaruffi and Janet Van Hees Scaruffi. She was preceded in death
by her beloved father, Louis A. Scaruffi; her nephews, Heath Austin Kelly and Matthew
Louis Scaruffi; and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will continue
through generations.
She was the loving mother of Brandi Mareno (David), Sean Scaruffi, and Scott Scaruffi
(Stephanie). Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma Patty” to her treasured
grandchildren: David Austin Mareno (Tarah), Daniel Brice Mareno, Tyler William Scaruffi,
and Brooke Nicole Chevez.
Patty is also survived by her loving mother, Janet Van Hees Scaruffi; her siblings, Kathy Scaruffi, Tony Scaruffi (Maria), Julie Gaspard (Larry), and James Scaruffi (Cynthia); as well
as her nieces and nephews: Randy Gaspard (Leslie), Amie Bostick (Lee), Tracy Kelly, Nancy
Gaspard, Angela Stone (Will), Stephanie Scaruffi, Suzanne Scaruffi (Darren), and Sarah
Cooley (Justin).
She also leaves behind her adored great-nieces and great-nephews: Dominic, Wyatt,
Kassidy, Josie, Brianna, Jessie, Tristan, Emory, Scarlett, Waylon, and Zayn, along with a host
of first, second, and third cousins whom she loved dearly.
Patty loved her family with her whole heart. Genealogy and preserving family history were
among her greatest passions, and she took tremendous pride in keeping family
connections alive for future generations. More than anything, she prayed for her family to
remain close, united in love, grace, and faith. Her greatest wish was that the bond she
nurtured throughout her life would continue for generations to come.
Patty possessed a servant's heart from a very young age. As a teenager, she devoted her
time visiting the Home of the Incurables, comforting and caring for those who were often
forgotten. She faithfully served her church community and carried that same compassion
throughout her entire life. Later, she volunteered with hospice, oƯering comfort, kindness,
and companionship to families during some of lifes most difficult moments. Patty never
hesitated to help someone in need, and her quiet acts of love and service reflected the
deep faith that guided her life.
At the young age of 21, Patty began working at the New Orleans Coca-Cola Bottling
Company. Within one year, Patty applied to become the Executive Secretary to owner
Richard Freeman Jr.. This opportunity became the catalyst for a long and respected career
serving as a trusted executive assistant to the owners of several businesses. It was a true
testament to Patty's remarkable work ethic, trustworthiness, loyalty, and unwavering
commitment to everything she did.
After her time at New Orleans Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Patty would go on to serve as
the Executive Secretary to the Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church and later at St. Johns
Episcopal Church.
One of the most cherished chapters of Patty's life was her time at John Curtis Christian
School, where she faithfully served as the personal secretary to Rev. John T. Curtis. She
treasured the relationships and memories formed during those years.
For the past 15 years, Patty proudly dedicated herself to helping her family grow their
businesses, serving as Executive Secretary for CIG and South Coast Concrete. Her loyalty,
work ethic, and unwavering support meant more to her family than words can express.
She was authectionately known as “Aunt Patty” not only to her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, but also to so many who became part of her extended family through
life and work. Many of the people who worked alongside her family lovingly called her Aunt
Patty as well as a reflection of the warmth, kindness, and love she freely gave to everyone
around her.
Patty's life was a beautiful example of unconditional love, unwavering faith in Jesus, and
devotion to family. She loved big, laughed big, and made everyone around her feel special.
Her warmth, humor, strength, and gentle spirit will be forever missed and lovingly
remembered by all who knew her.
