Paul Odis Railey, 69, passed away on February 2, 2025 in Niceville, Florida. Born on April 22, 1955 in Columbus, Georgia, Paul lived a life defined by dedication to his craft, a love for adventure, and a sharp sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
A master mechanic by trade, Paul owned and operated Paul’s Foreign Car Service, where his expertise and commitment to excellence earned him the respect of his community. Late in life, he retired from the City of Niceville after years of devoted service. Known for being “street smart,” Paul combined practical knowledge with a tireless work ethic throughout his career.
Paul’s interests and talents extended far beyond his professional life. A proud 32nd-degree Mason and Shriner, he embodied the values of brotherhood and service. His adventurous spirit was evident in his achievement of earning a pilot’s license and his passion for drag racing, which he shared with nephews Sherman and Woody Adcock. Paul loved his German Shepherds, especially Jack and Spook. In quieter moments, Paul found joy in gardening. His quick wit and dry sense of humor were unforgettable traits that left lasting impressions on all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his loving siblings: sisters MaryAnn O’Hearn, Dorothy Stevens, Deborah Smith, and Hazel Tindall; and brother Bobby Railey. He was preceded in death by his parents Lucy Merle Mann and William “Doc” Railey; sister Linda Johns; and brothers William Railey and James “Bubba” Railey.
A memorial gathering to honor Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at White Point State Park, located at 801 White Point Road, Niceville, Florida 32578. Services in Columbus, Georgia will be planned for a later date.
Paul’s legacy is one of skillful craftsmanship, adventurous pursuits, and an enduring sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
