Paul Edward Wichman, born December 2, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on April 21, 2026, in Crestview, Florida. Paul devoted 48 years of his life to Johnson Controls, Inc., where he not only built a career, but also made a lasting impact on the lives of those he taught. As an instructor/Principal Engineer in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), he guided and mentored countless individuals, sharing both his knowledge and his passion for the work.
His dedication took him to cities across the United States, where he demonstrated the assembly and installation of JCI products. He took great pride in his work and in the several patents he earned throughout his career, including Personal Environmental Module (1989); Function Control Module for Air Treating Systems (1984); Modular Fluid Control Apparatus and Method of Making (1984); and Multiple Load Integrated Fluid Control Units (1980 and 1981).
Outside of his career, Paul found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid bowler and golfer, and he treasured the laughter, friendships, and memories made along the way. Whether on the lanes or the course, Paul valued the time spent with others.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Wichman and Friedel Wichman (Heinemann).
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, La Verne Wichman; his brother, Ronald Wichman (Lavone); his son, Donald Wichman (Lanie); and his daughters, Joan Morse (Michael); Linda Cramer (Christopher); and his daughter-in-law Debbie Wichman.
Paul’s greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, including Christopher Wichman (the late Dana); Jennifer Trevillian (AJ); Paul Morse; Michael Morse II (Katelyn); Bradley Morse (Kiersten); Robert Morse; Nathanial Cramer (Liesel); Daniel Cramer; Joshua Cramer; and Kenny Wichman.
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Alex Wichman; Charlotte Wichman; Madelyn Trevillian; Nolan Trevillian; Michael Morse III; Aoifa Morse; Ophelia Morse; Emerald Calaman; Emilia Morse; and Ezra Morse.
He is further survived by his nephews, R. Doug Wichman and the late S. Christopher Wichman, and his great-nephew, Dillon Wichman.
Paul will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. He touched many hearts and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, always cherished, and never forgotten.
