NICEVILLE—Richard Spiker, 85, died March 29, 2022 at his residence 14346 State Hwy 20 Niceville, FL 32578. He was born November 24, 1936, in Stubenville, Ohio, the son of Harry Robb Spiker and Frieda Emily Fawlk (Beach) Spiker.
Richard graduated from Weirton West Virginia High school class of 1954. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Air Force 22 years 1955-1977 and was enlisted during the Korean and Vietnam wars where he served his county as a medical supply technician. After his retirement from the Air Force he enrolled in OWCC and earned an AA degree in drafting and was employed with Aero-Technical Services, Fort Walton Beach, FL.
Richard cared for his father Harry R. Spiker and mother Frieda E. Spiker in his home until their passing.
Richard was a loyal member of the AMVETS Post 78 Valparaiso, FL District commander and first Lifetime member of AMVETS Post 78. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 221 Niceville, FL and an Emeritus member of the Okaloosa Lodge 312 Niceville, FL.
He volunteered as a dispatcher at the North Bay Fire Department, Walton County Florida. He loved fishing. He was a fresh and saltwater aquarium hobbyist that he enjoyed when he was no longer able to go fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Jack Spiker. Surviving in addition to his son Darren Spiker and wife Angela Spiker Knoxville TN, are his daughter Robin Wicker and husband Wesley Wicker Niceville FL, granddaughters Sharesa Spiker, Kacey Spiker, Carrie Wicker, Jessica Wicker, Virginia Wicker and great grandchildren Iziah Powers, Madilyn Powers, Parker Kokowski.
A service of remembrance will be held April 12, 2022 at 13:30 pm Heritage Gardens Funeral Home 2201 N. Partin Drive Niceville, Florida 32578. Those who wish to remember Richard in a special way may make gifts in his memory to their local VFW.
