Robert “Bob” Benton
Born Oct 28, 1930, in Fryeburg, Maine and passed away January 3, 2023, in Niceville, Florida.
Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and “Dad/Mr. B” to all his adopted children slipped gracefully into the presence of his God while at home with his loving family nearby.
He is survived by his 2 brothers, Avard & Alfred (Fritter). Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Lou, of 66 years: his sisters Evalyn, Elaine, & Joan; adopted son Jimmy Ditch & wife Linn, daughter-in-law Brenda Benton, grandson Joshua Ditch, great-grandson Christopher “Cruz” Thompson.
Bob’s remaining children include- Alfred with wife Rachel, Linda with husband Leonard, Robert “J” with wife Mary Ann, and Chuck with wife Denise. His 13 grandchildren are Jennifer, Robert “Kale”, Holly, Andrew, Jessica, Timothy, Austin, Matthew, Katlin, Scott, Shane and Stacey, Nickie.
He had numerous great-grandchildren…. listed in no particular order. Katrina, Natalie, Jordan, Reagan, Justine, Cole, Allie, Reese, Grace, Layla, Rachel, Abigail, Anthony, Zach, Taya, Stella, Crosby, Benton, Weston, Kirtley, Price, Martha, Genevieve, & Cross.
Bob’s great-great-grandchildren are Lincoln & Paxton.
“Bob, Dad, Mr. B, Grandpa, Gramps, Pa-Pa” and many other nicknames too numerous to list, was a stellar impact on all he met and those who had the opportunity to be touched by his enduring work ethic, his acts of charity, and his faithfulness to wife, family, adopted family and friends alike. His absence will be the hardest thing to live with, because he always had a positive outlook on nearly every situation, his mind never seemed to be stumped by any obstacle; there never seemed to be a time when he couldn’t reach into his pocket and come up with the “gadget” that would “fix” the problem. He will be sorely missed by all.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 3pm at Heritage Garden's Funeral Home, Saturday, January 7, 2023. Visitation will begin at 2pm prior to the service. A fellowship meal will be held at 4:30pm, at Rosemont Baptist Church, 1601 27th Street, Niceville, FL 32578.
