Robert E. Due

Ret. CMSGT Robert E. Due passed away July 16, 2026 surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was 97 years old.
Born June 24, 1929 in Apple Springs, Texas to Arthur Leonard Due (Sambo) and Addis Young Due. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Coleman and James Arthur Due, sisters Ruth White and Juanita Due.

Robert graduated as Salutatorian at the age of 16 from Centerville High School in 1946. He had a scholarship to Rice University, but was unable to attend because of his age. Instead, he attended Satterwhite Business School in Lufkin, TX.  Unfortunately, due to the death of his sister, Juanita, he had to withdraw to join the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1947. When the Army Air Corp split, he became an airman in the Air Force.  He served in the Berlin Airlift and the Philippines. He was stationed at Carswell AFB, Texas, where he met his wife of 74 years, Maroy Ann Sellers, They were married on December 7, 1951. A son, Marvin Earl, was born to them in 1953 and a daughter, Denise in 1954. Robert was then stationed in Tripoli, Libya for 18 months. A son, Dennis, was born in 1958. The family enjoyed their moves to Columbus, Mississippi, Omaha, Nebraska, and Lindsey Air Station in Wiesbaden Germany. In Germany, he served on the I.G. Team and traveled throughout Europe and North Africa. They returned to Omaha for a year. The family lived in Ft. Worth, Texas while he ventured the Vietnam War in Thailand.  Robert finished up his military career at Holloman AFB, New Mexico in 1973. After retirement, he opened the GEICO Insurance Office in Alamogordo, NM.  Robert was active in the ELKS in
Alamogordo.  Robert and Maroy Ann moved to Daphne, Alabama in 2002. In 2017, they moved to Niceville to live with their daughter.

Robert is survived by his wife, Maroy Ann, sons, Marvin (Glenda) and Dennis (Brittney), and daughter, Denise. His sisters, Imogene Dubose, Jane Chappell, Maycel Robinson, and Carolyn Baker (Joel). Grandchildren, Christopher Due, Brittney Due, David Propst II (Elise), Timothy Propst (Ashley), Dennis Due II, Carly Beaulieu (Gerard), Isaiah Due, Olivia Due, and 10 Great-Grandchildren.

Arrangements are being made by Heritage Gardens Funeral Home in Niceville, Florida. He will be cremated and buried at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
