Robert Frank Moore III of Niceville passed away on May 22, 2020 in Niceville Florida.
Mr. Moore was born on September 17, 1932 in Lake Village, Arkansas. “Bob” graduated from E.E. Bass High School in Greenville, Mississippi. He attended Sunflower Community College on a football scholarship before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1952 and serving through the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he returned home to Mississippi and graduated with a BA Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
In 1958, Robert moved to Connecticut to begin training with the Travelers Insurance Company. In the same year, he met and married the love of his life, Vivian Moffitt. They were married for 62 years. They moved to Miami where Robert began his work with Travelers, selling Group Insurance throughout Florida and the Caribbean. During his time with Travelers they also lived in West Palm Beach, Miramar, Orlando, Florida, and Midlothian, Virginia. After a 35-year career with Travelers, in 1991 he and Vivian retired to Tallahassee. He was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church. He was also a long-time member of the Golden Boys Tennis Group at Forest Meadows. He loved playing tennis, watching football, scuba diving the Florida Keys, barbequing, sharing hot tamales from Greenville, and singing “Elvira” with the grandkids. Robert’s closing remark was always “keep the faith.”
Survivors include his wife, Vivian M. Moore; son, Morton F. and Barbara Moore of Valparaiso, FL; daughter, Eleanor and Robert Wilcox of Niceville, brother H. Carlton and Margie Moore of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren: Frank Partridge, Lindsay Sansom, Jessie Tran, Emily Kennedy, Sarah Wells and Katie Moore; and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lafayette Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, Florida.
