Roger Leo Malo, 70, of Niceville, Florida passed away on July 30, 2023 after a three year battle with cancer.
Roger was born on January 23, 1953 to Leo and Madeline Malo in Central Falls, Rhode Island. After Roger graduated from Cumberland High School in 1971, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He went on to serve his country for 22 years, working in Administration and retiring as a Master Sargent in 1993.
In 1972, Roger met Susan Hartley. They fell in love and married in that same year. They went on to have two great children and have been married for 51 magical years. Soulmates for life.
After retiring from the Air Force, Roger worked at Coastal Lumber in Niceville for more than 15 years, then as a manager at Surplus Warehouse in Fort Walton Beach, Florida for more than 10 years.
Roger loved all Boston sports teams, especially his beloved Red Sox, always a diehard fan. He was a great husband and father. Family was one of the most important things in his live. If you ever met Roger, he was always making everyone laugh and was a good friend to many people. He loved feeding the birds, squirrels, and turtles in his backyard. His yard is fully of his many woodworking creations, from fence silhouettes to a wishing well in his front yard.
Roger was preceded in death by his second son Randy, his father Leo, his mother Madeline, and his sister Jeannie. Roger is survived by his wife Susan, his first son Scott, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization Roger felt strongly about.
