Col Roland L Nordlie USAF (Ret), 89 of Niceville, Florida passed away October 13, 2020 from natural causes. Roland was born in Morristown, NJ July 14, 1931. He graduated from West Point Academy in 1955 and enlisted in the Air Force which he proudly served for 30 years, most of those as a pilot. Roland flew F-4 Phantom on missions and was operations officer for the 435th for most of his tour in Vietnam earning him the Distinguished Flying Cross.
His service in the Air Force included assignments in England, Tampa, FL, Germany, spent 1 year at the Air War College in Montgomery, AL and finally in 1977 arrived in Niceville, FL. Once in Niceville, he built the house he wanted on Rocky Bayou Golf Course, hole 11. He loved to golf and thoroughly enjoyed living right on the course. In 1981, Roland retired from the Air Force and stayed in Niceville.
He is survived by his three children, Eric Nordlie, Colorado Springs, CO, Steven Nordlie, Niceville, FL and Lori (Joseph) Perrigoue, Green Bay, WI. Three grandchildren, Allison (Tyler) Criswell, Green Bay, WI, Joey Perrigoue, Green Bay, WI and Steven Nordlie Jr., Destin, Florida. He is further survived by one sister, Lyn Hickey of Gilroy, CA.
