Ronald Corbin Obituary

Ronald Ferriel Corbin, 82, of Niceville, Florida, passed away on March 30, 2023 at home with his wife and sons.

Ron was born in Crestview, Florida, to Noah and Pauline (Edge) Corbin on July 15, 1940. He grew up in Niceville, surrounded by numerous relatives and friends, and also spent time in Holt with members of his family. He graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1958. He briefly attended Troy State, and then The University of Florida. At UF, he was a member and lead soloist for The Floridians, select members of the UF Glee Club, highlighted by making an album and appearing at Carnegie Hall in New York. He graduated in 1963.

It was in Gainesville where he met his wife and love of 60 years, Evonne. They started their journey first in Jacksonville and then to Pensacola, where Ron worked as an insurance agent for many years, achieving the coveted CPCU designation in his field. In 1978, he moved his family home to his beloved Niceville where he opened his own agency, then merged with another before ending his career with his own family business.

It was in Pensacola where he met his best friend and partner, Roy Morris, and they formed The Song Masters Quartet along with George Pearcy and James Brown. Eventually becoming the Masters Quartet, they traveled the South ministering with song at churches and auditoriums with different members, including life-long friends George Forbis, Billy Todd, Roger Golden, Tim Lovelace, Ron Settles, Johnny Noski, James B. Lowery, and others. These members, along with their wives, were Ron’s brothers and sisters in Christ and song. One of those versions dearest to him was their time featuring his sister, Patty Luke, and her husband, William.

He loved travelling, his favorite being the yearly trips to the Smoky Mountains. It was there he would celebrate his anniversary with Evonne and later his sons and beloved grandson, Tyler. Ron and Tyler had a special bond that will forever be unbroken. He also loved going with his brother, Lannie, on golf trips and to NASCAR races, with a cast of friends including his cousin, like a brother, Wayne Spencer, Lavon Mason, James Campbell, Paul Arguelles, and others. These guys included Ron in every event and he appreciated it more than they can know.  He loved attending Niceville Eagle football games in the fall. He enjoyed all sports, especially cheering on his beloved Florida Gators.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Evonne; sons Ron (Kathy) Corbin, Jr., and Jason Corbin; brother and inspiration Lannie (Judy) Corbin; grandchildren Nicholas-Tyler Corbin, Andrew (Ashleigh) Fusco, and Caleb Tellman; and great-grandson Greighton Fusco; beloved aunt, sister, and closest companion in life, Glenda Faye Coon, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Pauline Corbin, and his sister, Patty Luke.

Ron was an inspiration to all of his family, friends, and acquaintances fortunate enough to have crossed his path. His tireless attitude and refusal to be limited in his life are an example for all to follow. We all are beyond blessed to have known him.

There will be a memorial service held for Ron at a later date.
