Ronald Lee Mayer passed away at the age of 76 on August 31, 2023 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was born on September 1, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to Willie Lee and Eloise Mayer. He earned his Master’s Degree in Education Leadership. He spent 57 years married to the love of his life, Cheryl Mayer.
Ronald enjoyed fishing, coaching football, and spending time with his family. He served two years in the United States Army, as a cook in Vietnam and a truck driver in Camron Bay. After that, he spent seven years teaching and coaching at Lowndes County High School in Georgia. He then moved to Florida where he spent 35 years at Niceville High School, two years at Choctaw High School, and finally two and a half at South Walton High School.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ricky G. Mayer.
Ronald is lovingly survived by his wife Cheryl Ann Mayer, son Christopher Lee (Misty) Mayer, grandchildren Alexander Lee Mayer, Lillian (Wyatt) Tilton, and Karyssa Jastrzebski, and great-grandchildren Odessa and Sawyer-Lee Tilton.
