Ronald Lee Richardson (also known as Ron) was born in Valparaiso, Florida, on January 7, 1956. He left this world in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on October 24, 2023. He made Niceville his permanent home during his 67 years.
Much of his youth was spent in the wilds of Boggy where he rode dirt bikes, hunted, fished, and enjoyed the natural beauty of his home in the company of friends and family. As years passed and he saw new neighborhoods in development, he always took a moment to tell stories about how he had once camped in that same area with friends, and the various injuries they received trying to ride trails too quickly or what sort of wildlife they had come across. He also loved music and took great pleasure in simply sitting and listening to tunes.
Ron was hired by the Okaloosa County School District as a young man, starting with construction and electrical work. It was while working for the county schools that he met Teresa Harrison of Fort Walton Beach. They dated not long after their first meeting and married in 1981. He retired from the county in 2011, having gained certifications and risen to a supervisor role.
He was predeceased by his parents, Travis Lee and Gilda Ruth Richardson (née Johnson), as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who have gone on before him.
Ron is survived by Teresa, his wife of 42 years; their daughter, Cynthia; son-in-law, Eric; many cousins, and lifetime friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital for their care and compassion.
A service, followed by visitation, will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Sovereign Grace Church in Valparaiso, Florida, from 11AM to 1PM. Light refreshments will be provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of our local groups working to make the area Ron so loved a better one.
