Sandra (Sandy) Bohart Miller, 77, passed away on August 29, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Sandy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose life was marked by service, care, and adventure.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Taryn Fielder (husband Ryan); her son, Layne Fielder (wife Lauren); her sister, Cheri Gerlach; her brother, Mark Bohart; her stepdaughter, Susan Goff; and her stepsons, Kevin Miller and Mark Miller. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Sophia Fielder, Alexandra Forsythe, and Connor Forsythe.
Born in Alamogordo, NM, to Chester and Doris Bohart, Sandy was both raised in, and eventually married to, a military family. Graduating from Emory & Henry College with a B.A. in English, she started her career teaching junior and high school in Salem, VA. Sandy moved to Niceville in 1982 and started a career in Real Estate where she practiced for over 25 years.
Sandy lived a life full of love and commitment to friends, neighbors, and church. She was a vibrant and active woman who dedicated much of her time to her community. She was a familiar face at Plew Elementary School, the Senior Center, and Crosspoint Church, where she volunteered regularly. Her faith was central to her life, and she was an avid churchgoer, participating in many church activities and events.
Sandy was also a natural caregiver, a quality most evident in the devoted care she provided to her late husband, Gerald Miller, during his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Her compassion and dedication extended beyond her family, touching the lives of everyone she met.
Sandy loved to travel, and her adventurous spirit took her around the world. In her younger years, she enjoyed tennis, boating, sailing, and spending time at the beach, where she loved getting a tan. Known for her grace and style, Sandy always had her hair perfectly done and makeup on when welcoming visitors.
She also had a special bond with her two cats, Veebee and Pumpkin, who adored her… and only her.
Sandy’s kindness, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 9:00 AM, at Crosspoint Church in Niceville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alaqua Animal Refuge by clicking HERE.
