Sarah Arnold Obituary

Sarah Elizabeth ‘McMurtrey’ Arnold passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026 in the Birmingham home she shared with her daughter, Lisa and son-in-law, Dennis. She was 93 years old.

A woman of unwavering faith, Sarah was a strong Christian whose life was a living testament to her devotion to God. Her gentle spirit and unconditional love served as a guiding light to everyone who knew her.

Her truest and highest calling in life was her family. She was a wonderful, deeply dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, and friend. She filled their lives with warmth, laughter, and the security of love. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending quality time together, sharing stories, and filling the room with her bright, infectious laughter.

As a patriotic Air Force wife, she proudly stood alongside her husband, Harold O. Arnold, Sr. during his years of service to our country. She embraced the unique sacrifices of military life with grace and resilience.

Sarah is survived by her loving children Thomas Michael Arnold and Lisa Arnold Litka (Dennis); daughter-in-law, Camille Arnold; six grandchildren, Harold III (Katy), Eric (Amanda), Jacqueline, Rebecca (JP), Adam, and Nicholas; and six great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Andrew, Mason, Harold IV, Michael, and Arian; siblings, Jeanette, Fred, and Sue, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles L. McMurtrey, Sr (1976); her mother, Dezma McMurtrey (2006); her brother, Charles L McMurtrey, Jr. (2014); her husband of 67 years, Harold O. Arnold, Sr.(2018); and her son, Harold O. Arnold, Jr. (2014).

Those who knew Sarah will always remember her vibrant spirit and her lifelong love for Elvis Presley. Whether she was listening to his classic records or singing along to her favorite gospel songs, music brought an extra spark of joy to her life.

She touched countless lives with her generous heart. The immense love she gave everyone will never be forgotten, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” —Matthew 25:23.
