Sharon Gill Jones was born on October 30, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to Gerald B. Gill and Mary Ellen Rogers Gill. She passed away peacefully with her husband at her side in the Covenant Hospice Inpatient Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida on March 15, 2021.
She was a wonderfully devoted wife and mother, a caring aunt, and a dear friend to many people across our entire country.
As a member of a career military family, Shari grew up in many places, including in Japan, Washington D.C. and Valparaiso, Florida. She attended Okaloosa-Walton Junior College, worked in the banking industry, and was a flight attendant with Southern Airways.
In 1974 she married Doug, the love of her life, and was a dedicated and supportive Air Force wife until his retirement in 1986. During her time as an Air Force wife she was a flight attendant with Gem State Airlines in Boise, Idaho, was the Chief Flight Attendant with Golden Gate Airlines in Monterrey, California, and while they were stationed in Stuttgart, she again worked in the banking industry in Germany. She was a creative, talented woman who loved to cook, took pleasure in gardening, and shared her beautiful beading creations with family and friends, bringing beauty into all our lives.
Shari always laughed, always loved, always gave, and always cared. She will always be loved, deeply missed and warmly remembered. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Rogers Gill, her father, Dr. Gerald Burch Gill, and her son, David Burch Jones. She is survived by her husband, Herman Douglas (Doug) Jones, Jr. of Niceville, Florida, her cousin, Karen Ferguson Tucker (Scott), her cousin, Denise Ferguson Robinson, her sister, Deborah Gill Warhaftig (Marty) and her brother, Gerald B. Gill Jr. (Jayne).
Her family is eternally grateful for the devoted and loving care she received throughout her stay in the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and the Covenant Hospice Inpatient Unit in Pensacola, Florida. In keeping with Shari’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Covenant Hospice Inpatient Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
