Shirley B Von Haven

Shirley Black Von Haven of Bluewater Bay, Florida passed away on June 15, 2021 at the age of 86. She died peacefully, surrounded by family members.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Bliss Von Haven and Dr. Shirley Robin Von Haven: sons, Ellis Jean "Hap" Von Haven III, and Christian Alexander Von Haven; grandchildren, Katie, Andrew, Haley, Carly, Aly, Alex, and Brie; brother, Jerry Black...and her cat, Kitty, who Shirley said is "ahead of her time." 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmack and Lucille Black, her sister Joan Blanton, and her former husband, LTC Ellis Jean "Bonzo" Von Haven Jr. 

Shirley loved to play tennis and bridge, she loved to entertain, travel and shop, and she loved to collect beautiful things. She lived life on her own terms, always striving to enjoy "the best" of everything. We miss her terribly, but thankfully, as Irving Berlin observed, "The song is ended, but the melody lingers on."

Arrangements are with Heritage Gardens. The family will hold a private memorial service to celebrate her life and plans to establish a fund to support organizations and activities that she most enjoyed.
