Sonya “Sunny” C. Manning passed away after a long fight with cancer on June 14, 2020 at the age of 76. Born August 22, 1943 in Davenport Iowa. Sunny graduated Central High School at Davenport in 1961. She met and married William Manning and together they completed a career in the U.S. Air Force. She had two children and worked as an elementary school teaching assistant, Clerk Typist/Secretary with Air Force, and Medical Transcriptionist/medical secretary/ graduate medical program and at the department of medicine at the University of Tennessee, retiring in 2005.
Sunny was kind and friendly to all who knew her. Survivors include husband of 58 years, William Manning, Daughter Lisa Trapp, Son-in-Law Dr. Charles Trapp, Grandsons Eric and Ryan Trapp, Son Derek Manning, Brother Franz Wicker, and Special Friends Drs. Jeff Nelson and Komal Kirpekar. Sunny and Bill moved to the Niceville community in 2005 to be with and support her grandsons. She enjoyed watching and supporting her grandsons in the community little league baseball and football, Niceville football, and Rocky Bayou band. She also loved college football especially the Tennessee Volunteers. Sunny was a member of Cross Point Church and enjoyed the traditional sermons, the Wednesday night meals, and her bible study group. She will be missed by all of us. We are comforted knowing she will be welcomed in heaven.
There will be a Graveside service held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Heritage Gardens Cemetery beginning at 10:00am.
