Ulpiano del Valle III Obituary

Ulpiano Francisco del Valle III (Pano) went home to be with Jesus on January 26, 2025 with his wife by his side. Pano was born August 13, 1938 in Los Angeles, CA. His parents were Ulpiano Francisco del Valle II and Margaret Aileen del Valle. He grew up in Manhattan Beach, CA where his family grew to include two brothers, Antonio Fredrico and Carlos Juan, who preceded him in death.

In 1982, he married Julia Hope del Valle and they blended their families, continuing to live in California until their move to Niceville, FL in 2001.

Pano is survived by Julia Hope Register del Valle, his wife of 43 years. He is also survived by his sons, Juan Ricardo del Valle (Cindy) of Kingman, AZ, Miquel Francisco del Valle of Escondido, CA, Adam Vincent del Valle (Sarah) of Penbroke, Ontario, Canada, and step-daughter Ashley Larisa Hoskins (John) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. His oldest step-daughter, Kelly Denise Alley, preceded him in death. He was known as Papa Pano to his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

At an early age, he followed his Dad down to the Manhattan Beach pier and began fishing. Fishing became one of his favorite pastimes, lasting his entire life. He had the opportunity to fish in many parts of the world. Pano taught all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren to fish from the back yard pier. He always said “move me 2 blocks from the water and you might as well put me in Kansas.”

Pano was an accomplished athlete, attending Loyola University in Los Angeles on a baseball scholarship where he earned a BS degree in Finance. He also played football during college and later in his 30’s and 40’s played rugby in the Los Angeles Rugby League. When it was time to move on from those sports, he took up golf. Although he never accomplished his goals in golf, he never gave up.

He began his career as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch in 1968 and worked there for 43 years until his retirement.

After Pano and Julia moved to Florida, he solidified his Christian faith by attending church and numerous Bible studies on a regular basis. He was serious about serving his Lord and his growth as a Christian was evident by his benevolence and his charity work. Until his health interfered, he volunteered for several years at Sharing & Caring and Kid’s Count. After tutoring “his boys” at Kid’s Count in their schoolwork, he especially enjoyed teaching vocabulary by playing Scrabble with them. Pano left a legacy of hard-work, a large extended family, and many friends.
