Vincent Guilles Obituary

Vincent R. Guilles, “Honey”, “Papa”, “Kuya”, and friend went home to Our Lord on February 20, 2021 at age 61.  Vincent was born to Eliseo and Eduvigis Guilles on October 27, 1959 in Makati City, Philippines.

Vince married his forever honey on April 26, 1987 and they were blessed with three beautiful children, Gabrielle “Gabby”, Giselle and Gibson who loved and will miss their Papa so very much!

Gabby, their eldest daughter, shared a special bond with Papa despite his teasing her, he would always stand up for her as they shared the same kinds of jokes and, the same reserved quiet dispositions.  Gabby thinks back to her younger days and how Papa encouraged her to be silly and herself, no matter what.

Giselle reflects on the way he knew how to make things light while always providing the weight of his loving protection to her. She recalls all the late nights Papa stayed up waiting for her to get home, after a long work day, and all the saved dinners with her name on them in the fridge.

Gibson readily recalls favorite memories with Papa being the many father and son times they spent together.  Papa would take him to the Rec Center on base for some father and son air hockey matches where Papa showed no mercy! Then there were all the tennis matches they played and how his Papa’s top spin was unbeatable!

Lastly, his beloved bride Liza, who will always hold Vincent dearly in her heart as her “forever honey”, wants the world to know that although the loss of her “honey” in this life is causing terrible pain in her heart right now, she has accepted the Lord’s calling up of “Honey”.  She sees the message of Jesus’ love for them, even in this storm, in having given them 33 blessed years together.  In all their years of marriage, she recalls Vince always calling her “honey”.  Even in times of upset, they were still “hon” to one another.  Vince was a most dedicated and loving father, awesome husband and great provider whose life revolved around his family and faith. You could count on Vince to always be strong and selfless in all things.  In his last days the doctor reaffirmed what we’ve all always known about Honey, he was a fighter!  For 27 days he fought the good fight.  They said they had yet to have any other patient fight more valiantly for his life and family during this ugly covid crisis than Honey. And yet, the Lord had different plans for Honey as he passed peacefully over into the arms of the Lord.  Exodus 23:20  “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.”

If anyone prefers in lieu of flowers to gift a monetary donation to the family for the purchase and planting of a Japanese Maple tree, to be located at the family home and be dubbed, “The Honey Tree” in remembrance of Vincent, that too would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for your kindness, prayers, and generosity during this difficult time. Much love and many blessings to you all! The Guilles Family
