Virginia Scarbrough, 61, of Niceville, FL, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, with her devoted husband by her side.
Born on June 6, 1964 in Mobile, AL, Virginia lived a life full of strength and compassion. In her prime, she was lively - quick to laugh, quick to speak her mind, and always ready to turn up the music.
As a licensed therapist, Virginia’s most meaningful work was spent helping troubled teens find stability, direction, and hope. Her work was not simply a career but a calling. She met young people in some of their most difficult times and offered them patience, accountability, and belief in their potential.
Virginia found deep peace at the beach where the sound of the waves, sand beneath her feet, and salty air felt like home to her soul. Music filled her home and her days as she loved to sing along and dance to her favorite songs.
Above all, Virginia cherished her family. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Bill Scarbrough; her children, James Scarbrough, Christopher (Heather) Scarbrough, and Amy (Gordon) Hall; her grandchildren, Jarin Tyler Cooksey, Hayden (Olivia) Cooksey, Noah Scarbrough, and Maddie, Peter, and Israel Scarbrough, who were the center of her heart; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren welcomed by marriage, Kaitlyn, Ashleigh, Rylee, Gauge, Emma, Eilee, and Cohen; her siblings, Dawn (Mike) Mayo and William Williams; her brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Kay) Missiledine; along with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Sharon Williams; her brother, Bobby Williams, Jr.; her brother-in-law, Jason Russell; and her nephew, Joshua Missiledine.
Virginia’s family is deeply grateful to the nurses and caregivers whose compassion, patience, and gentle presence brought comfort to her and Bill in her final days - independent caregiver, Cassie Stewart; Emerald Coast Hospice and Cornerstone Caregiving, Amber, Beverly, Melissa, Heather, Cassidy, Olivia, and Brieanne. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family kindly asks that you visit your favorite beach or spend a day with your loved ones in memory of her. Virginia’s family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace - sunshine on her face, music in the air, and the sound of the ocean nearby.
