Virginia “Ginny” L. Smith was born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Leopold and Virginia Cirelli.

Ginny and Jerry Smith were among the first families to settle on Persimmon Street in Choctaw Beach. Together, Mom and Dad worked alongside other young families to build the first firehouse and community center, remaining active in the community for many years.

Mom loved her animals, playing bingo, and sitting in the sun watching the squirrels and birds. Oh, mom loved chocolate and a cold Pepsi, no matter the time of day.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Jerry R. Smith, who passed away in 2013.

She is survived by her children, Dawn and Harvie Clark, Gina Smith, and Jeff and Wendy Smith; grandchildren Jesse and Logan Schober and their children Emmalyne and John (Fitz), Mollie Smith and fiancé Jesse Vonderosten and their daughter Averie Marie, and JD Smith.
