Walter Albert McKee
Senior Master Sergeant Walter A. McKee, US Air Force retired, and US Federal Civil Service employee retired, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 after an extended illness. Walter was born in Tallahassee, Florida on October 18, 1929 to Clyde and Ellen McKee. He moved to Niceville in 1974 where he remained until his passing.
Included in Walter’s 28 years of service, beginning in 1947, were 22 years of tours in the Far East, Alaska, Congo and Germany. Walt was a veteran of Japan Occupation, Korean Conflict, Congolese Civil War and the onset of the Vietnam era.
Upon retiring from the Air Force, Walt availed his experience and talents for the next 20 years to the US Civil Service at Eglin AFB Communications Center. He attended The First Baptist Church in Niceville and enjoyed many years as a member of the Eglin AFB Officers Club and Golf Club. He was a proud member of the Disabled Veterans of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Walt is survived by his wife Tsuneko Maria McKee of Niceville, Florida, daughter Tina McKee of Tallahassee, FLA. son Bob (Becki) McKee of Greenville, S.C. and daughter Rina Pierson of Lynn Haven, FLA. His brother Paul (Jane) McKee of Tallahassee, FLA and sister Ellen (Dennis) Quine of Oxnard, California. Grand children Christine, Eric, Michael, Lauren and Natalie and great grandchildren MaryAllen, Kennedy, Maddox, Carter and Rory and a great great grandaughter, Ryver.
We will celebrate his life at the Heritage Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery 2201 Partin Dr N, Niceville, Fl. 32578 on May27, 2022. Visitation will start at 10:00am and services will commence at 11:00am followed by the burial. A reception will follow for friends and family at the Boathouse Landing, 124 N. John Sims Pkwy, Valparaiso, Fl. Please RSVP for each person. rinapierson@comcast.net
