Dennis Joseph Brown, age 62, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus unexpectedly on Friday, May 26, 2017 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Flint, Michigan on December 1, 1954. He graduated from McComb, Mississippi High School, received his Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi and received his Master’s of Church Music from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Leah Lewis Brown of Niceville, FL; his daughters, Monica Bondurant (Jim) of Pace, FL; Melodye McPherson (Bryan) of Ft. Valley, GA; and son Matthew Brown of Prattville, AL. He is also survived by his five precious grandchildren: Haley and Isaac Bondurant, Carter, Lydia and Jed McPherson. He is survived by his brother Danny Brown (Linda) of Madisonville, LA, sisters Debbie Kennedy (Butch) of Magnolia, MS, Darla Hutson (John) of Summit, MS, Denise Schoen of Summit, MS and Danita Brown of Kenner, LA and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac Watson (IW) and Vivian Brown, brother, David, brother-in-law Philip Schoen. Since September of 1987, Dennis has been a member of the pastoral staff at the First Baptist Church of Niceville, and prior to that he served churches in Pensacola, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Dennis’ life was one devoted to service of others so in lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to one of the following: Isaiah Ministries (isaiahministry.com), Baptist College of Florida or the building fund at First Baptist Church of Niceville. While he was devoted to his family and his church family, he was also immersed in his community and was the first to meet the needs of anyone. The love that Dennis extended to his fellow man exemplified the gospel of Jesus.
