Mary Louise King Alvadj, age 80, of Niceville, FL, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2017. She was born on July 21, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan. After marrying the love of her life, Lt. Col Gordon S. Alvadj (US Army) on January 18, 1958, they spent the next 24 years raising their family while traveling around the U.S. and Europe with the Army. While raising four children, she graduated with a BA in Social Work from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS. She worked as a Crisis Hotline Counselor, Education Advisor for the Univ. of Southern California satellite campus in Heidelberg, Germany, ending her working years as a travel agent. In her spare time, she was an avid racquetball and tennis player. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother/great grandmother, good friend, and will be greatly missed. In addition to traveling, she loved entertaining and celebrating any and all occasions.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Dorothy King; husband, Gordon Alvadj; and son, Bradley Alvadj. She is survived by her daughters Kimberly Rodriguez (Joel) of Niceville; Kelly Chamberlain (Paul) of Milton, FL.; and Kathleen Jaragoski (Paul) of Suwanee, GA; daughter-in-law, Susie Parker of Navarre, FL; grandchildren, Katie Gillespie (Niall) of New York City, Kally Peace of Niceville, FL., Jena and Jake Jaragoski of Suwanee, GA., Gregory Chamberlain of Canton, MA., Matthew Chamberlain of Milton, FL., Kevin Shipe of TX and Jules Shipe of AZ; and great grandson, Finnian Gillespie of New York City.

A time of Visitation will be held from 9-10am on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at Christ Our Redeemer Church in Niceville, with a Funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be Friday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.
